Hey there! We arrived in New Zealand on Nov 13 and it's been almost a month here. Feels like just a few days, because we've been very busy getting some things done before the 'real' traveling begins.
/ Čau. Jaunzēlandē jau pavadīts gandrīz mēnesis (ielidojām 13. novembrī) un pirmajās nedēļās esam izdarījuši svarīgas lietas, lai varam sākt ceļot.
A little summary.
The first days in Auckland were spent getting bank accounts and IRD numbers, finding a car and a new place to live (we had only booked first 9 nights). We were quick to realise - we don't like Auckland (especially after visiting Sydney), therefore we moved a bit north from Auckland - to Orewa. Lived in a van and spent days traveling around with our new car. Yes, everything changes when you own a car - you can finally get to see all the good spots. After Orewa, moved to Hamilton (have to get used to constantly being on the road), where we're at the moment. Living with a kiwi family (a kiwi = a New Zealander) and helping them with things around the house in exchange of food and a place to live. On Sunday we're leaving to a new place again - Te Puke. More about that in my next blog post.

Pirmās dienas Oklendā pavadījām bankā, pastā un sludinājumos - atvērām kontus, dabūjām IRD numurus, nopirkām mašīnu un meklējām jaunas vietas, kur dzīvot. Ļoti ātri sapratām, ka Oklenda mums nepatīk un atradām mazu ciematiņu netālu no Oklendas - Orewa. Padzīvojām pie mājas novietotā hipsterīgā treilerī un izmēģinājām jauno mašīnu, apceļojot tuvāko apkārtni. Un jā, viss mainās, kad nopērc mašīnu, jo beidzot vari tikt uz visām tām skaistajām vietām, kur ar sabiedrisko transpotu nekādi netikt. Pēc Orewas pārvācāmies uz Hamiltonu (laikam jāsāk pierast, ka visu laiku būsim ceļā) un atrodamies šeit joprojām. Dzīvojam kiwi ģimenē (kiwi = vietējie iedzīvotāji / jaunzēlandieši) un palīdzam dažādos darbos ap māju. Par to viņi mums dod vietiņu, kur dzīvot un garšīgi pabaro. Svētdiena jau atkal dodamies uz jaunu vietu - Te Puke, bet vairāk par to nākamajā bloga rakstā.

The first trip with a car - to Piha beach. One of the most beautiful beaches around Auckland.
/Pirmais brauciens ar mašīnu - uz Piha pludmali, kas ir vienano skaistākajām Oklendas reģionā.
It took us a while to find a car with a good deal and it will take us a while to get used to driving on the other side of the road. Except entering the other side of the road twice and repeatedly turning on the window cleaner instead of turning signal - everything's good. haha
/Pagāja laiks, kamēr atradām mašīnu mums piemērotā cenā un droši vien paies laiks, kamēr pieradīsim braukt ceļam pretējā pusē (vairāk jau es, Robets jau PRO). Ja neskaita to, ka visu laiku ieslēdzam logu tīrītājus un divas reizes esam iebraukuši pretējā joslā - pagaidām viss ir kārtībā. haha
The roads are often winding and go up and down all the time.
/ Ceļi bieži ir ļoti kalnaini un līkumaini.
The only thing predictable about the weather in New Zealand is its changeability. They say that you can experience 4 seasons in a day.
/ Vienīgā lieta, ko var paredzēt par laikapstākļiem Jaunzēlandē ir tas, ka tie vienmēr būs mainīgi. Vietējie saka, ka Jaunzēlandē var piedzīvot visus 4 gadalaikus vienā dienā.
We found a little private beach which is only accessible around low tide.
/ Atradām mazu pludmali, kurai var piekļūt tikai tad, kad ir bēgums.
On one side of the island you can find white sand beaches and on the other - black sand beaches. The black sand beaches are my favourite. ❤
/Vienā salas pusē ir baltās smiltis, otrā - melnās. Man noteikti mīļākas melnās. ❤
A paradise for bird lovers in the photo above. The birds are there for the heavy wind.
/Šī noteikti ir paradīze putnu faniem (nevienu tādu laikam nepazīstu). Putniem tur ļoti patīk uzturēties lielā vēja dēļ.
Stayed in this cute little cottage for one night on our way to Hamilton.
/Palikām šajā mīlīgajā būdiņā vienu nakti pirms došanās uz Hamiltonu.
Last photos are for the moms, so that they know we eat here as well.
/ Pēdējās bildes mammām, lai zina, ka šeit esam arī paēduši.
